The book that changed everything.

At the end of last year, I made myself a commitment to live life more intentionally. I was inundated with negativity, regardless of whether it came from my friends, the news, or strangers in my company. It got to the point where I felt as though I was stuck in a box of bad energy and it was difficult to focus on any of the good things happening around me. Spoiler alert: great things are always around you, but they become difficult to notice when your vision is fogged with negativity.

But asking yourself to change the way you think isn’t as simple as flicking a switch. A change like this requires discipline. It requires discipline until you’ve successfully rewired your brain to think differently.

This is the book that changed everything.

Vishen Lakhiani, the founder of Mindvalley, is one of the leading experts in anything and everything related to personal development. I’ll probably devote an entire post to Mindvalley, but let me just nerd out on Vishen’s book for a hot minute.

Vishen doesn’t only provide an answer as to how to focus more of your energy on positivity and gratitude, but he introduces the concept of “hacking” your systems of living.

What if everything we think we know about how the world works— our ideas of love, education, spirituality, work, happiness and love — are based on Brules (bullshit rules) that get passed from generation to generation and are long past their expiration date?

Vishen interviewed some of the greatest non-conformist minds (Elon Musk, Peter Diamandis, Richard Branson, Arianna Huffington, etc.), and their experiences prompt us to question the ways in which we live our own lives, and subsequently challenges us to turn off our auto-pilot and begin living more consciously.

For example, every few years, we upgrade the operating systems on our phones and computers, but why don’t we do the same to the ways in which we live?

I really, really, really, REALLY encourage you to buy, rent or listen to this book. You’ll also get instant access to a wealth of information through the online library of additional videos, interviews and masterclasses.

To hold you over until you get your hands on a copy, I’ll leave you with my favorite of all Vishen’s talks. (I promise, he’s really engaging. I mean, look at the title).

And in the words of Mindvalley: “This is Not a Personal Growth Book, it’s a Personal Disruption Book.”

>> If you read this book, let me know! I’d love to nerd out with you about it.
